During the month of May we will be focusing on metabolic workouts. The primary goal of metabolic workouts is to burn calories throughout your workout as well as up to 12 to 24 hours later. In order to achieve this goal, working to full capacity, or at a high intensity, is imperative. Essentially, the idea is to work as hard as you can for specified time intervals in order to reach your maximum calorie burn. Our focus this month will be to create workouts that drive your metabolic rate and to encourage you to always push yourself to your limits.
Learning how to work to your full capacity can be challenging. As trainers, it is our job to push you to do a few more reps, or run a little bit harder, but, at the end of the day, you are the ONLY ONE who can really push yourself to that next level. You will often hear us say every rep you do after you think you can’t is progress. The fact is, you simply have to push yourself past what is comfortable in order to improve or to get the most out of your workouts. Mohammad Ali is famous for saying he started counting reps once it started to hurt. This is the key! And remember this is not a competition. Focus on working YOUR hardest and not trying to keep up with someone else.
If you find you are struggling to push yourself further, or you aren’t seeing the results you want attending regular classes, personal training is a great way to learn how to find and overcome your limits. Spending one on one time with a trainer who can personalize the workouts to your needs is an exceptional tool, and you can then take that knowledge into our open classes. We strongly recommend you consider this investment in your knowledge about fitness and your journey to health. Please do not hesitate to contact us to make your personal training appointment so we can help you achieve your fitness goals.
So, Happy Metabolic May!! It’s going to be an intense month and we are so excited to see everyone push themselves and break those barriers. We’re here if you have questions =)
